PROCEEDINGS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WILBER, NEBRASKA Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Mayor Chrans called the special meeting to order at the Cultural Center at 110 W Third Street in Wilber, Nebraska on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. The following were present. Mayor Roger Chrans, Councilmembers Randy Sasek, Kent Linhart, and Allen Brozovsky, City Clerk Lori Rezny and City Attorney Tad Eickman. Absent was Councilmember Tim Lempka. Notice of this meeting was posted in three places within the City on June 16, 2025. The Mayor stated that the open meetings act is posted in the meeting room and is available for public inspection. Roll call shows three Councilmembers are present. The Mayor called for recognition of visitors if anyone in attendance wishes to address the Council. No one addressed the Council. The purpose of the meeting is regarding discussion and possible action on having a special election for re-instating a ½ cent city sales and use tax. Discussion was held on holding a special election to re-instate a city ½ cent sales and use tax. The ½ cent sales and use tax that the City was collecting, was for the purpose of paying for the Wilber Fire Hall bond, this ½ cent sales and use tax will expire on July 1, 2025 due to the Fire Hall bond being paid off. After discussion, Sasek moved and Linhart seconded to approve Resolution 2025-07 submitting a Ballot Question to approve an additional local option municipal sales and use tax of one-half (1/2) of one percent (1%) before the voters of Wilber, Nebraska in a special election to be held on September 9, 2025, for the purpose of funding improvements, repairs, replacements, extensions, and equipment purchases for said projects, for streets, and the electrical, water, and sewer systems of the City of Wilber. If approved the city sales tax rate would be 1.5%. Roll call vote. Yes. Brozovsky, Linhart and Sasek. No. None. Motion carried 3-0.
