MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR MEETING held Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Rentschler, Weise and Workman Absent: None Also present: Utility Superintendent – Hunter Oliver, Utility Maintenance – Zach Schuerman, Village Clerk – Moria Holly, and Saline County Deputy Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda; motion and second to approve the items in the consent agenda. 2. Property Issues – Possible “Tiny House” and Campers/Mobile Home Park; after discussion, the Village Board agreed to get the Village Attorney involved in these matters and follow any advice provided. 3. Community Center – New Stoves; after discussion, the Village Board agreed to proceed with obtaining estimates for two (2) new stoves. 4. 2025-2026 Saline County Rural Fire District Contract; motion and second to approve and sign the 2025-2026 Saline County Rural Fire District Contract as submitted. 5. Review/Approve Wastewater Improvements Group A – Judds Bros Pay Application #3; motion and second to approve Judds Bros Pay Application #3. 6. Review/Approve Wastewater Improvements Group A – Judds Bros Change Order #1; motion and second to approve Change Order #1. Discussions: The Saline County Deputy presented their monthly call report and stated that everything was going well within the Village. Fire Chief, Shawn Weise, stated the remodel of the Fire Hall went well and the department is looking forward to the Soup Dinner on October 12th to allow the residents to view the new updates. Utility Superintendent, Hunter Oliver, discussed with the Village Board that the Wastewater Treatment Plant work continues, the washout for the Water Tower is completed, Well #5 was struck by lightning on October 5th and damaged the well’s controls, an insurance claims has been filed regarding the damage, the water main break on the West side of the Village has been repaired and the break on the East side of the Village will be repaired later this week. A new diving board stand has been ordered due to the constant delays regarding the originally ordered stand and should be arriving in approximately six weeks. After making contact with the distributor regarding the slide at the ballfield, Hunter explained that he will be providing estimates for a new slide and possible alternative equipment. Hunter also discussed with the Village Board the issue of residential sewer service lines underneath Village streets. He wanted to confirm with the Village Board who would be liable for any expenses regarding removing and replacing concrete to allow a resident to complete repairs on their service line. After discussion, it was agreed upon that any repairs to a service line under a Village street would the responsibility of the property owner and any removal and replacement of concrete for the Village street would the responsibility of the Village. Village Clerk, Moria Holly, presented her Clerk Report consisting of sales tax collected, a new checking account for sales tax, and discussions had with JEO regarding appointment of a Street Superintendent and possible grant options for the Village.
