Shirley A. Pecka, 82 of Wilber, passed away Dec. 26, 2023, at the Wilber Care Center.

She was born Nov. 9, 1941, to Clarence A. and Esther D.M. (Schenamsgruber) Teet in rural Swanton. She married Allen J. Pecka on Nov. 12, 1961, in The Swanton Methodist Church in Swanton. Shirley attended Swanton Public School, graduating with the class of 1959, where she played four years of volleyball. Shirley grew up on a farm north of Swanton. She worked at Wilber Better Buy window/door factory in Wilber as a secretary and handled the shipping trucks destination. Shirley later went to work for Steinacher & Vosoba as a legal secretary. She worked there until her retirement.

Shirley was a member of the Nebraska Czechs of Wilber, Legal Secretaries of Nebraska, Beta Sigma Phi, The Garden Club and Czech Village. She received the Ladies of Libuse Award and worked as an auditor of the Czech Queen contest at Czech Days. Shirley was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She sewed lots of her own clothes and the women's Czech vests that were sold at the Craft Shop. Shirley also enjoyed dancing, cats and dogs, country western and Czech music, flowers, Nebraska volleyball, men's and women's basketball, Nebraska football and Oregon basketball.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Alfred Teet and his wife Adele; Dolly, (her miniature dachshund); nephews, Tim Busboom, Todd Busboom, Max Busboom, Mark Busboom, Chris Teet, Dan Teet, Bob Teet, Gerry Teet, Randy Teet and Greg Teet. Gerald Pecka, Jeannette Pearson and Donna Whemhoff, Richard and Deanna Sand. She was "Grandma Shirley" to Justin, Logan and Ranell Sand.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen J. Pecka; brother, Albert Teet; sister, Alberta Busboom and her husband Eldon; in laws, Robert F. and Albie Pecka; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert L. and Betty Pecka. Shirley will be missed by her family and many friends.

The funeral service was Dec. 30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in care of the family for future designation. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home.
