The thigh is the limit: Tuesday Wing night sizzles in Wilber

By Amy Hausman

If your Tuesday night is feeling a little too tame, there’s a saucy solution waiting at Stroker’s Saloon in Wilber. Wing Night runs from 5 to 8:30 p.m., and at just 85 cents a wing, it’s one hot deal that doesn’t just tease—it delivers.

Last week Gabe and I came hungry after a City Council meeting and left smitten (and if you have attended a government board meeting that sentence should say everything you need to know). The wings arrived golden and crispy, with each flavor generously coated and nothing soggy in sight. We sampled a quartet of sauces—bourbon, Carolina, Caribbean jerk and garlic parm. Each was everything we hoped for, but the garlic parm stole the show. The blend of tangy oil, melted butter and a shower of powdery Parmesan was downright seductive. If wings could whisper sweet nothings, these would be the ones.

Now, fair warning—there’s just one fryer in the back, so you’ll need to exercise some patience. But trust us, the wait’s worth it. Plus, it gives you time to indulge in one of the saloon’s signature spicy pickle (bleep) shots, served in adorable mini red Solo cups. Let’s just say they pack a punch and leave a bit of a tingle. Call it a flirtation with danger—or vinegar.

Wing Night at Stroker’s is messy, tasty and wildly satisfying. Whether you like it hot, mild or dripping with saucy goodness, you’re bound to find a flavor you love - and company that is even better because this is a Saline County gem full of friends and laughter.

And if you leave without trying the garlic parm, well… I’m not mad, just disappointed.
