MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR MEETING held Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Wattjes, and Weise Absent: Workman Also present: Utility Superintendent Interim – Hunter Oliver, Clerk - Moria Holly, Saline County Deputy, and Melissa Larmeu Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda 2. Resolution 2024-01; Sale of Surplus Property (Dump Trucks) 3. JEO – WWTP Improvement Project 4. NextLink – Franchise Agreement Discussions: Melissa Larmeu with the DeWitt Senior Center addressed the Village Board regarding some code of conduct issues that occurred recently at the Center. These occurrences involved two separate individuals becoming angry and verbally abusive towards Senior Center volunteers; as well as in front of visitors at the center. After receiving several concerns and complaints, Melissa stated that she contacted both Saline County Aging Services and Aging Partners in Lincoln regarding a proper protocol in handling these situations. It was determined and agreed by all parties to proceed with a verbal warning, written warning, and if the behavior would continue then the individual would be banned from the Senior Center premises. Melissa stated that all Senior Center visitors/participants will receive a hand out outlining the Code of Conduct guidelines and the protocol for any violations of such guidelines. The Village Board agreed with the proposed Code of Conduct guidelines that are being set forth and the consequences for any violations. The Saline County Deputy stated that there were no major issues within the Village over the last month and the Deputy was informed of recent conduct issues at the Senior Center as well. Fire Chief, Shawn Wiese, informed the Village Board that Blue Valley Door finished its maintenance on the Fire Hall to prepare for the winter season, that Rescue acquired a new cardiac monitor that was paid for by State ARPA funds, and that the new ambulance will be ready in approximately two weeks and then will have the lettering applied on the outside. Utility Superintendent Interim, Hunter Oliver, informed the Village Board of having the new dump truck shipped to the Village and is currently being serviced, that Milius repaired a significant water main leak last month on the east side of town, that 50% of the Village’s water meters have been replaced, he is currently scheduled to acquire his water operator’s license in February, and is in the process of reviewing the Village’s current equipment for possible sale or replacement. The Village Clerk, Moria Holly, presented to the Village Board her Clerk report consisting of current sales tax received, Mihm property update, and that trailer letters were sent to have trailers removed from being parked on the street.
