MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR Meeting held Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Wattjes, Weise and Workman Absent: None. Also present: Clerk - Moria Holly, Deputy Hudiburgh, Eric Teegerstrom with Midwest Assistance Program, and Michael Schultes with JEO Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda 2. House Demolition Bids – Clausen & Sons/Mid-State Clearing 3. Water Tower Demolition Bid – Viking Industries Discussions: Michael Schultes with JEO Engineering addressed the Village Board regarding the State’s recommendations for the funding for the Wastewater Treatment Plant rehabilitation. One item that would be recommended is a Median Household Income survey. Eric Teegerstrom with Midwest Assistance Program then addressed the Village Board offering his services in regard to this survey. Midwest Assistance Program is a non-profit organization that works with small rural Towns and Villages in regard to water and wastewater projects. After discussion with Mr. Schultes and Mr. Teegerstrom the Village Board agreed to proceed with completing a Median Household Income survey. Michael Schultes also discussed with the Village Board a lagoon alternative to the rehabilitation of the wastewater treatment plant. Again, the issue with this option is finding land for the Village to purchase outside of the floodplain and floodway to construct a lagoon. The Village Board agreed to consider and explore this option to determine if any land would be available. The Saline County Deputy stated that everything has been quiet in the area and discussed any concerns from the Village Board. Fire Chief Shawn Weise discussed with the Village Board the Department’s purchase a new brush fire truck, delays with the new ambulance that had previously been ordered, and grant funding received for the new ambulance. The Village Clerk presented her report which consisted of monthly sales tax, updates on nuisance properties, the security camera vandalism, and that a rate comparison with Norris has been scheduled.
