MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR MEETING held Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Wattjes, Workman and Weise Absent: None Also present: Clerk - Moria Holly, Joan Tietjen, Craig Vyhnalek, Scott Zeilinger, and Saline County Deputy Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda 2. Library – Library Doors 3. Resolution 2024-02; Lottery Question to Voters 4. CD(s) to General Account – Fire Department Funds 5. Wrightsman’s Estimate – Wifi Thermostats at Community Center 6. Sealed Bids – Dump Trucks 7. Village Employee Bonuses Discussions: Craig Vyhnalek with Vyhnalek Insurance addressed the Village Board regarding the 2024 renewal of the insurance policies for the Village and for the Fire department. There was an increase in the terroristic coverage due to current events happening all over the country. The Village Insurance is now held by Tokio Marine with no changes to coverages. The Village Board agreed to allow the Village Insurance and Fire Department Insurance to automatically renew. The Saline County Deputy stated that everything was quiet over the last month. Fire Chief Shawn Weise discussed difficulties with calls during this season’s snow storms and that discussions are being had regarding selling the old ambulance once the new one is received and ready for use. Utility Superintendent Interim, Hunter Oliver, was unable to attend the meeting as he was attending Water Operator training classes, however, he did submit his report in writing regarding: snow removal, well controls, backup generators, water meters, wastewater operator conference, and hiring a second employee. A copy of such written report is attached to the minutes in the Office of the Village Clerk. The Village Clerk presented her report which consisted of monthly sales tax, updates on nuisance properties, Community Center lights, bids for the pool repairs, clerk school in March, request to use Community Center for a Volleyball league, and railings along the east sidewalks at the Village Office.
