MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR MEETING held Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Wattjes, Workman and Weise Absent: None Also present: Utility Superintendent – Hunter Oliver; Clerk – Moria Holly; Loren Duerksen and Dustin Jones with Diller Telephone Co; James Noe with Last Mile Networks; and Saline County Deputy Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda 2. Diller Telephone (Diode)/Last Mile Networks – Franchise Agreement 3. JEO – Amendment 1 to the Engineering Agreement 4. Resolution 2024-04 – WWTP Loan Agreement 5. Promissory Note – WWTP Loan Agreement 6. Village Swimming Pool – Step Estimates from ACCO and RL Tiemann Construction 7. Josi Remmers – Estimate for Interior Painting at Community Center 8. Jordan Rahe – Estimate for Painting Graffiti at Ball Field and Rossitter Park 9. Wrightsman’s Plumbing – Estimate for Village Office Plumbing Repairs Discussions: The Saline County Deputy presented their monthly call report and the Village Board addressed speeding concerns within the Village. Shawn Weise discussed with the Village Board regarding rooms that may not be used efficiently at the Bus Barn; as well as; the Village obtaining a microphone for use with the sound system at the Community Center. Fire Chief, Shawn Weise, informed the Village Board that it was a busy month for the Fire & Rescue Department with multiple calls and a structure fire. Also, financing for the new ambulance has been completed. Utility Superintendent, Hunter Oliver, addressed the Village Board regarding a water main leak repair, upcoming repairs and maintenance, and the increased need for hiring a Utility Maintenance Worker and seasonal help as soon as possible. Village Clerk, Moria Holly, presented her Clerk’s report consisting of sales tax, the Village’s DeWitt Days funding for different events/items, funding for Senior Center repairs that have been required by the Health Inspector, possible use for remaining ARPA funds, a proposed timeline for additional pool repairs, and setting up the animal vaccine clinic in May at the Fire Department.
