Kenneth W. Brenneman of Plattsmouth, formerly of Crete, passed away March 12, 2024, at the age of 78. He was the son of John and Pauline (Mekemson) Brenneman of Crete, and was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Lincoln. He was a 1963 graduate of Crete High School.

Ken enlisted in the Navy after graduation and served until 1966 with an Honorable Discharge. He served with the Amphibious Task Force in Vietnam and was awarded various medals, among which are the Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Meritorious Unit Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Citation and Gallantry Cross with Palm Ribbon Bar.

He returned to Crete and attended Doane College and UN-L. Ken married Mary Olson in 1968. They resided near Bassett, where he was an electrical contractor and rancher. They had one daughter, Amy.

In 2009, Ken married Grace (Zeman) Pursley and resided in Plattsmouth. He and Grace loved traveling the United States and he loved to fish and hunt.

Ken is survived by his wife, Grace; daughter, Amy (Barry) Frerichs; grandson, Brennan (Ashley) Frerichs and their daughter, Colette; stepson, Andy (Rachel) Pursley and their son, Gavin; sister, Betty Zamperini, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Brenneman; and granddaughter, Amber Frerichs.

The funeral service was March 16. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
