Pastor Kathy Rice, age 76, of Omaha, passed away Feb. 12, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Kathy was born in Boston, Massachusetts. She earned a teaching degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University. She taught music at various school districts in Nebraska. At age 40, she followed her dream of becoming a Methodist minister through St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. She served at multiple churches across Nebraska, including one in Wilber.
She was preceded in death by parents, George and Helen Rice. She is survived by siblings, Barbara (Fred) Vanecek, David (Chris) Rice, and Steve (Kristi Rutledge) Rice; and nieces and nephews, Adam Rice, Mandy Rice, Nathan Rice, Spencer Rice, Aubri Rice and Matthew Vanecek.
A memorial service will be Sunday, March 10, at 12:30 p.m., at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 5410 Corby St., in Omaha, with a luncheon to precede the service at 11:30 a.m., in the church fellowship hall. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the United Methodist Church Committee on Relief. Arrangements by Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Omaha.
