Gary Gansemer's life journey began Jan. 18, 1943, in Lincoln and peacefully concluded Dec. 7, 2023.
Gary married Karen Kay Hanenkamp in November, 1961, and to this union, two children were born: Tanya and Sonya. Gary spent most of his early years farming near Denton and Martel. In the mid-1970s, the family moved to a farm near Clatonia. Eventually, Gary began working for the co-op, managing the grain elevator in Clatonia.
In the late 1990s, Gary and Kay moved to eastern Colorado, where Gary continued to work for a co-op in their fertilizer plant. In 2011, Kay became ill and after her passing, Gary chose to move back to Nebraska. Gary has been living in Wilber since 2013. He enjoyed building, fixing and creating all kinds of things in his shop.
Gary is survived by his children, Tanya (Rick) Brown and Sonya Smith; brother, Ron (Rosie) Gansemer; grandchildren, (Tasha (D.P.) Davies, Tristin Smith and Wyatt Smith; and great-grandchildren, Jack Davies and Grayson Davies. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Kay Gansemer; and his parents, Harlan and Bernice Gansemer.
A Celebration of Life was Dec. 14. Gary will be remembered for his sense of humor and colorful language.
