Doris Arlene (Harper) Thornburg entered into eternal life Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, at the age of 89 years. She was born June 2, 1931, in Greenleaf, Kansas, to Grace and Charlie Harper.
At the age of 16, she was united in marriage to Wilton Thornburg, Jr. and together they were blessed with seven children, Cynthia (Mike) Stockwell of Beaver Lake, Dixie Bolender of Lincoln, Debbie (Doug) Ripa of Wilber, Jim Thornburg of Ruston, Louisiana, (special friend Kathy Boroff), Diane (Steve) Oltman of Filley, Steve Thornburg of Fairbury and Michelle (Wilbur) Young, also of Fairbury.
She spent her life raising seven children, working at Head Start and Kids Connection until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by husband, Junior; parents, Charlie and Grace Harper; brothers, Edward, Herman and Donnie; sister, Reva; mother and father-in-law, Lela and Wilt; sisters-in-law, Beulah and Phyllis; and brother-in-law, Lester.
She is survived by sister, Glenda (Doug) Spilker of Diller; brother, Garry (JoAnn) Harper of Omaha; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A private family service was Nov. 16 at the United Methodist Church in Fairbury. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice. Condolences may be left for the family at www.gerdesmeyerfh.com
