Donald E. Vostrez, 91, of Wymore, formerly Wilber, passed away Feb. 21, 2024.

He was born in Alexandria on Jan. 2, 1933, to Ervin and Agnes (Rischling) Vostrez. He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1950.  Don was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Watford, England. He was a Corporal with the Anti-Aircraft Unit and was honorably discharged on March 2, 1955. Don met Sheila Mills in Watford at a dance, and they were married Dec. 18, 1954. In March of 1955, they moved to Alexandria, then Reynolds, Swanton, DeWitt, Wilber and then to Wymore to be closer to his daughter, Tammy Husa.

He worked at Reynolds Oil Co. and on his parent’s farm near Alexandria. He started working in DeWitt at Petersons Manufacturing in 1957 until his retirement in 1995. Don enjoyed hunting, traveling, garage sales, gardening, dancing and going to casinos.

He was preceded in death by his wife,: Sheila; parents; brother, Weldon; sister-in-law, Betty; and grandson-in-law, Charlie Moody. Don is survived by his children and their spouses, Teresa and Terry Busing, Donald, Jr. and Tammy Vostrez, Tammy and Jerry Husa; grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Vostrez, Brent (Michelle) Vostrez, Amber Moody, Todd (Alex) Busing, Joshua Husa, Tyler Husa, and Mitchel (Deepicka) Vostrez; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and loving dog, Tiny.

The funeral service was Feb. 26. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Beatrice Humane Society. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
