David Lee Schuerman, 61 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Friday, March 22, 2024, at his home after a long battle with COPD.

David and his twin sister, Diane, were born July 27, 1962, in Omaha. The two were placed in the Nebraska Children's Home at around five years of age. Both were adopted by their parents, Charles and Mary (Franks) Schuerman in June of 1970. David graduated from Wilber-Clatonia High School in 1981. He was a loyal production line worker at American Tool until they closed their doors in 2003. He was subsequently employed by the Beatrice Country Club and the Beatrice Community Hospital.

David was well known for his absurd, slapstick humor, his seemingly aloof disposition and his trademark spontaneity. He enjoyed practical jokes, losing at poker, classical films and making others laugh until they cried. David was a master of improvisation, capable of brightening anyone’s day with a side-splitting, off-the-cuff remark. He was truly one of a kind.

David leaves behind his parents, Charles and Mary Schuerman; his sisters, Diane Mayer (partner Bryan Breeden), Cammie Schuerman, and Jody Mendoza; niece, Christina Hartzell (husband Alex); nephew, Miles Mayer; two great-nieces, Raelynn and Cecilia Hartzell; and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Michael “Mike” Naber, Larry Naber, Rick Sterzer, Robert “Bob” Weegar, and Mary Kneifl.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Private inurnment will be in the Clatonia Cemetery near Clatonia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Clatonia Fire and Rescue or the Clatonia Nebraska Cemetery in care of the mortuary.
