Charles William “Bounce” Truka, of Wilber, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the age of 91.

Charles got the name Bounce as a child when he fell out of his high chair and a family friend said he bounced, from then on he was known as Bounce Truka.

Bounce was born in Wilber on Nov. 1, 1931, to father, Charles Truka, and mother, Anna (Vana) Truka. Bounce grew up on his family’s farm and where he grew his love for farming and the outdoors. After graduating high school, he worked as a plumber and a mechanic.

After he was married and started a family, he moved to the country and started his lifelong dream of farming until he retired and moved back to Wilber. Besides farming, Bounce loved fishing, hunting and fixing things. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and fix anything that was broke. After retirement, he enjoyed camping and traveling with Olga and family members. He would spend hours fiddling in the garage or working in the yard.

He was married to Olga Belohlavy in 1952 who survives him. Bounce is also survived by his brother Bob and Karen Truka and sister-in-law Shirley Truka. His children, daughters Shirley Andelt husband Larry Andelt, Donna Rice and his sons Chuck Truka, wife Kim and Jim Truka, wife Dawn; grandchildren, Ryan Andelt, Eric Andelt, Nick Rice, Skyler Rice, Charles Truka, IV, Matthew Truka, Sami Truka-Vesely, Miranda Truka, Caleb Truka and Decker Truka. He also has many great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 6, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Sportsman’s Club in Wilber. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home in Wilber.
