Wilber Clatonia Public Schools MEETING MINUTES Board of Education Meeting January 18, 2016 Be the best person you can be. PRIDE: Positive Responsible Individuals Dedicated to Excellence A meeting of the Board of Education of Wilber Clatonia Public Schools convened in open and public session on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the school house, 900 South Franklin, Wilber, Nebraska at 7:00 p.m. The roll was called and the following Board members were present: Bob Sykes, Chris Cerveny, Scott Havel, Tim Riechers, Michelle Pryor and Russ Schuerman. Other guests present were: Darla Chrans, Bailey Wollenburg, Corey Neukirch, Michelle Sterling Evans, Shawn Kracke, Mallory Kaiser, Jennifer Neukirch, John Kaiser, Christine Radcliff, Mark Fritch, and Ray Collins. Notice of the meeting was given in advance by publication in accordance with the board approved method of giving notice of meetings. Notice of meeting was given in advance to all members of the Board of Education. Availability of the Agenda was available in the Superintendent’s office. All proceedings of the Board of Education, except as may be hereinafter noted, were taken while the convened meeting was open to attendance of the public. President Sykes called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. At the beginning of the meeting President Sykes welcomed visitors and reviewed the procedures for addressing the board. President Sykes also announced and informed the public that a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted on the wall of the meeting room and directed the public to its location. A motion was made by Tim Riechers and seconded by Chris Cerveny to approve the following consent items: Board members receipt of notice of meeting acknowledgement; approval of the agenda; approval of the regular session meeting of December 21, 2015; approval of the minutes from the organizational meeting on January 7, 2016; and approval of the claims and financial reports, General Fund, $575,427.74 and Special Building Fund, $ 7,494.00 and approval of employing Alison Moeller as SPED teacher, accept resignation of Heather Kostal, 3rd grade teacher and employ Lumir Sukovaty as night custodian, contingent upon background check. After discussion and on roll call vote, the Board voted as follows: voting for: Bob Sykes, Chris Cerveny, Scott Havel, Tim Riechers, Michelle Pryor and Russ Schuerman; voting against: none. Motion carries. The Board reviewed the summary of the Superintendent’s evaluation and made no changes. A motion was made by Tim Riechers and seconded by Michelle Pryor to retain the Preschool Fee schedule ($900 plus snack). After discussion and on roll call vote, the Board voted as follows: voting for: Bob Sykes, Chris Cerveny, Scott Havel, Tim Riechers, Michelle Pryor and Russ Schuerman; voting against: none. Motion carries. A motion was made by Tim Riechers and seconded by Russ Schuerman to accept the negotiations proposal of $34,825 base, plus additional language changes for the 2016-2017 school year. After discussion and on roll call vote, the Board voted as follows: voting for: Bob Sykes, Chris Cerveny, Scott Havel, Tim Riechers, Michelle Pryor and Russ Schuerman; voting against: none. Motion carries. Christine Radcliff, Elementary Principal, gave the Board an update on the K-6 building. Mark Fritch, Secondary Principal updated the Board of transportation and the 7-12 building. The Board reviewed the activities and technology report from Mr. Muller. Other department reports were shared with the Board. The Board then looked at the Superintendent Absence report. The Board discussed the Legislative Issues Conference held January 31st- February 1st in Lincoln; The Education Forum Conference held on February 23rd- 24th in Kearney; the External Team Visit on March 14th through the 16th and the NRCSA Spring Conference March 17th and 18th.
