WILBER CARE CENTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING OCTOBER 21ST , 2024 Present: Joyce Wusk Scott Albert Greg Hasenohr Stephanie Hroch Others present: Nicole Lane-Administrator Missie Bramhall-Business Office Manager Matt Ross- RHD Visitors Steve Placke, Lutz Accounting Randy Homolka, Maintenance Director, WCC The regular monthly meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm by Joyce Wusk, at the Wilber Care Center. Visitors Steve Placke, Lutz Accounting and Randy Homolka, Maintenance Director, WCC, were recognized. The September 2024 meeting minutes were approved. Approval by Stephanie Hroch. All in favor. Motion carried 4-0. Lutz Accounting Update: Steve Placke, with Lutz Accounting, presented the annual Financial Statement and Independent Auditors Report as well as revenue and cost analysis cost report findings. Mr. Placke reported that overall, Wilber Care Center is in a good position with financials and a strong cash position. The profit and loss statement indicates the last fiscal year was better than the two previous years, reporting the increase in weighted days due to the census increase over the previous two years was a primary factor. Payables are down and collections are up. Overall costs per day are down from the previous year despite the census increase this is attributed to a decrease in agency usage. Current Updates: Current updates- The Assisted Living side is nearly full with a current census of 34, 33 rooms occupied and 1 open room. The boardroom is nearly completed. A new HVAC unit will need to be purchased for the boardroom and the south end of the facility. Randy Homolka, Maintenance Director at Wilber Care Center, has reached out for bids. Joyce Wusk, Wilber Care Center Board member, has requested Randy bring the bids to next months meeting. Wilber Care Center’s liability insurance premiums went up and will be rebudgeted. Current Census- The nursing facility census is at 36 residents and the Assisted Living census is at 34. RHD Update- Matt Ross, RHD Consultant, reported that the Employee Retention Credit program is still processing funding requests. Matt said that Rural Health Development is working with a Tax Advocate to help find a resolve for this. General Financials: Financial statement- Financials held steady for September. Wilber Care center will work on increasing the census. Contract labor was down for September. CDs- CD revenue continues to increase. There are 2 CDs coming due in November that will be reinvested. Aging of Accounts- The Medicaid pending accounts continue to be monitored. The Wilber Care Center is working with DHHS to resolve eligibility issues. Motion to Approve General Financials: Motioned by Scott Albert. All in favor. Motion passed 4-0. All in favor. Expense Section: Staffing and Overtime-Wilber Care Center has hired 6 new employees over the last 6 weeks with goals to decrease agency use. There is an open position for LPNs as well as the MDS/QA nurse manager. General Expenses: No concerns expressed by the Board of Directors. Approval of Expense Section: Motion made by Greg Hasenohr. All in favor. Motion passed 4-0. All in favor. Old Business: HR Handbook discussion- The Handbook was approved by the board. Motioned by Stephanie Hroch. Motion passed 4-0. All in favor. New Business: The Wilber Care Center will start providing meals to the Dewitt Senior Luncheon monthly. The Senior Luncheon at the Wilber Care Center has resumed. Bids for a new HVAC unit have been requested. The telephones will be replaced in the coming days. The PTO donation policy is being researched.
