VILLAGE OF SWANTON P.O. BOX 23 SWANTON, NEBRASKA. 68445 NOVEMBER 13, 2023 The regular meeting of the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Village of Swanton, Nebraska was held at the Fire Hall in Swanton, Nebraska on the 13th day of November, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Runty called the meeting to order. Roll call was answered by Runty, Strouf, Likens, Placek, and Bass. Also attending was Donna Rut, Village Clerk and Alan Krupicka, Water Operator. Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by posting as required by law. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. The Open Meeting Laws are posted in the meeting room. The claims, treasurer’s report, and minutes were presented. A motion was made by Likens and seconded by Placek to approve the treasurer’s report and minutes and to pay all claims as presented. Motion carried with Likens, Placek, Bass, and Runting voting aye. Strouf abstained. The Saline County Deputy gave the monthly sheriff’s report. Chairman Runty read the letter from Gilmore & Associates stating their retirement as of October 31, 2023. Keith Gilmore will continue as our street engineer until the end of the year. After discussion on the engineering firms of JEO Consulting Group and Olson & Associates, a motion was made by Placek and seconded by Strouf based on recommendations from other communities to appoint JEO Consulting Group as the new Village Engineers. Motion carried with Strouf, Likens, Placek, Bass, and Runty voting aye. Discussion was held on the well project, meter reader, property nuisances, properties needing mowed, sweeping of Main Street, insurance, and the flood plain. A notice from Waste Connections of Ne stating that garbage rates will go to $19.95 per month immediately. Resolution #6-2023: A resolution by the Chairman and Village Board of the Village of Swanton, Nebraska, to change garbage fees was read. A motion was made by Bass and seconded by Placek to approve Resolution #6-2023. Motion carried with all members voting aye. Lynn Strouf reported on the auditorium roof repair, lift station service, generator service, lagoon pipe was flushed, and snow removal. Alan Krupicka gas his monthly water report.
