VILLAGE OF SWANTON P.O. BOX 23 SWANTON, NEBRASKA. 68445 May 8, 2023 The regular meeting of the Chairman and Board of Trustees of the Village of Swanton, Nebraska was held at the Fire Hall in Swanton, Nebraska on the 8th day of May, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Runty called the meeting to order. Roll call was answered by Runty, Strouf, Likens, and Bass. Placek absent. Alan Krupicka, Water Operator and Donna Rut, Village Clerk also attending. Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by posting as required by law. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. The Open Meeting Laws are posted in the meeting room. The Saline County Deputy gave the monthly sheriff’s report. Niki Dittmer and Luann Brown with the USDA-RD, Keith Gilmore with Gilmore & Associates, and Doug Yantzie with Sargent Drilling discussed the new well project with the board. The USDA-RD discussed possible funding for the project. A motion was made by Strouf and seconded by Likens to have Sargent Drilling proceed with a test well if site is approved by the state. Motion carried with Runty, Strouf, Likens, and Bass voting aye. Placek absent. A motion was made by Bass and seconded by Strouf to authorize Gilmore & Assoiciates to proceed on the environmental paperwork. Motion carried with Runty, Strouf, Likens, and Bass voting aye. Placek absent. Teresa Kile discussed the Hometown Housing Project with the board. They would like to see housing rehabilitation and new housing. The claims, treasurer’s report, and minutes were presented. A motion was made by Likens and seconded by Bass to approve the treasurer’s report and minutes and to pay all claims as presented. Motion carried with all members present voting aye. Placek absent. Discussion on the LBBNRD drainage project was held. We will wait until next year to pursue. Discussion on an increase by Waste Connections of Nebraska was held. A resolution will be presented to show the increase to $19.00 per month, per resident for garbage service. Alan Krupicka gave his monthly water report. The service line to Schuerman’s and Placek’s will be replaced as soon as possible and the PFAS water test was good. Eric Strouf will pick up a mower jack for the shop. As there was no further business, a motion was made by Strouf and seconded by Likens to adjourn. Motion carried with all members voting aye.
