This is a synopsis of the regular monthly meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Wilber. A complete copy of the proceedings, resolutions, agreements, and ordinances are on file at the City Office, 110 W Third Street, Wilber, NE and are available for public inspection during regular business hours. PROCEEDINGS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WILBER, NEBRASKA Tuesday, January 13, 2026 7:00 p.m. The Mayor called the regular meeting to order at the Cultural Center at 110 W Third Street in Wilber, Nebraska at 7:00 p.m. The meeting notice was published in the Wilber Republican on December 31, 2025. The following were present. Mayor Roger Chrans, Councilmember Kent Linhart, Tim Lempka and Allen Brozovsky, City Attorney Tad Eickman, City Clerk Lori Rezny, City Treasurer Melissa Beeman, Water/WWTP Operator Jason Ripa, City Superintendent Tim Krivohlavek, Amy Hausman with the Wilber Republican, Ken Uher, Jerrod Zoubek, Kelsey and Jordan Fikar, Katie VanVacha and Caleb Filipi. Absent was Councilmember Randy Sasek. The Mayor stated that the open meetings act is posted in the meeting room and is available for public inspection. Roll call shows three Councilmembers are present. The Mayor called for recognition of visitors if anyone in attendance wishes to address the Council. The following motions were moved, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call vote. 1) Approved the minutes of the December 9, 2025, regular meeting, December 30, 2025, special meeting and claims as presented. 2) Approved the Letter Agreement for Professional Services with Olsson for the 2026 Air Quality Compliance Reporting. 3) Approved the reappointment of Stephanie Hroch to the Dvoracek Memorial Library board for a 4-year term through December 2029. 4) The 1969 Ford Firetruck was sold by sealed bid to Al Ertzner at the December meeting; however, Mr. Ertzner has contacted the City and would like to have the City sell the Firetruck to the second highest bidder at the bid price from Mr. Ertzner. After some discussion, approved to sell the 1969 Ford Firetruck to Phillip Oelschlager for $4365.00. 5) Motion to instruct the City Attorney to communicate with Miller & Associates to determine the process of getting the Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Regulations updated. Other items of discussion without formal action were. Katie VanVacha and Caleb Filipi were present to discuss with the Mayor and Council the idea of making the Youth Sports Director position either two part-time positions or one full-time position. After some discussion, Mayor Chrans asked that the City take some time to consider the options. Katie also informed the Council that the Youth Football program will need to begin purchasing new helmets beginning in 2027. The matter of the water main and street construction at the Zoubek Addition was discussed. Olsson Engineering is also the City of Wilber’s Engineers. The City has contacted Olsson Engineering and has requested a letter clarifying that Olsson is representing Jerrod Zoubek and Olsson Engineering is willing to support the position that the as built 4” water main in the Zoubek Addition is satisfactory and they are willing to take responsibility for the water main in the event that the 4” water main is not sufficient in the future and also confirmation from Olsson that once the street construction is complete that Olsson Engineering will inspect and confirm to the City that the street has been constructed according to the record drawings signed and sealed by Olsson Engineering. Jerrod Zoubek expressed his opinion on the process of this development. After further discussion, no action was taken as the City is waiting for the letter from Olsson Engineering. Deputy Matt Baumann delivered the monthly Sheriff’s report. It was agreed that the Garden Club can hold a White Elephant Sale in the Cultural Center in April to raise funds for their scholarship program. Discussion was held regarding a suggestion for a handicapped parking stall in the middle of the block on 3rd Street in front of Wilber Physical Therapy, concerns of the slope of the sidewalk and curb cut issues were brought up. There are handicapped parking stalls at both the west and east intersections of this block and handicapped sloped sidewalks on the corners, no action was taken on this matter. The possibility of adding a frisbee golf course at Wilber 1 Reservoir was discussed. No action was taken; however, this matter may be discussed at a future meeting. City reports were given by Dept.
