This is a synopsis of the regular monthly meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Wilber. A complete copy of the proceedings, resolutions, agreements, and ordinances are on file at the City Office, 110 W Third Street, Wilber, NE and are available for public inspection during regular business hours. PROCEEDINGS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WILBER, NEBRASKA Tuesday, August 12, 2025 7:00 p.m. Council President called the regular meeting to order at the Cultural Center at 110 W Third Street in Wilber, Nebraska at 7:00 p.m. The meeting notice was published in the Wilber Republican on July 30, 2025. The following were present. Councilmember Randy Sasek, Tim Lempka, Allen Brozovsky and Kent Linhart. City Clerk Lori Rezny, City Treasurer Melissa Beeman, City Attorney Tad Eickman, Water/WWTP Operator Jason Ripa, City Superintendent Tim Krivohlavek and Saline Co Deputy Matt Baumann. Arriving at 7:40 p.m. was Mayor Roger Chrans. The Council President stated that the open meetings act is posted in the meeting room and is available for public inspection. Roll call shows four Councilmembers are present. The Council President called for recognition of visitors if anyone in attendance wishes to address the Council. No one addressed the Council. The following motions were moved, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call vote. 1) Approved the minutes of the July 8th regular meeting and July 25, 2025 special meeting and claims as presented. 2) Ordinance #986 was read aloud by title. Suspended the rules requiring the Ordinance be read three times and approved Ordinance #986 an Ordinance of the City of Wilber, Saline County, Nebraska, relating to maximum speed limits within the Corporate Limits of the City of Wilber; to amend Section 71.026 of the Wilber Municipal Code to add a maximum speed limit within the Wilber Legion Park; to repeal all other conflicting ordinances or parts of ordinances; and to provide for publication in pamphlet or electronic form and for an effective date of this Ordinance. 3) Discussion was held regarding the Saline County Area Transit budget allocation request. Approved the City’s portion of $4415.00 to be paid to the Saline County Area Transit 2025-2026 budget. Discussion was held regarding the progress of the cleanup on the property at 606 W Seventh Street. The property owner has cleared some of the items on the property but there is still more that needs to be done to abate the nuisance. After some discussion, it was agreed to re-access the condition of the property in 30 days and if no further progress is made the City may proceed with the abatement process as allowed by City ordinance.
