This is a synopsis of the regular monthly meeting of the Mayor and Council of the City of Wilber. A complete copy of the proceedings, resolutions, agreements, and ordinances are on file at the City Office, 110 W Third Street, Wilber, NE and are available for public inspection during regular business hours. PROCEEDINGS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WILBER, NEBRASKA Tuesday, June 10, 2025 7:00 p.m. Mayor Roger Chrans called the regular meeting to order at the Cultural Center at 110 W Third Street in Wilber, Nebraska at 7:00 p.m. The meeting notice was published in the Wilber Republican on May 28, 2025. The following were present. Mayor Roger Chrans, Councilmember Randy Sasek, Tim Lempka and Kent Linhart. City Clerk Lori Rezny, City Treasurer Melissa Beeman, City Superintendent Tim Krivohlavek and Water/WWTP Operator Jason Ripa. Tad Eickman attended by phone. Absent was Councilmember Brozovsky. The Mayor stated that the open meetings act is posted in the meeting room and is available for public inspection. Roll call shows three Councilmembers are present. The Mayor called for recognition of visitors if anyone in attendance wishes to address the Council. No one addressed the Council. The following motions were moved, seconded and approved by unanimous roll call vote. 1) Approved the minutes of the May 13, 2025 regular meeting and claims as presented. 2) Approved the SDL application for Strokers Saloon for an extension of their beer garden during the Czech Festival on July 31, August 1, 2, 3, 2025. 3) Approved to pay $375 for the 2025 Czech Festival ad in the Nebraska Life Magazine and $250 for 2025 Czech Festival radio ads on Ol’ Red 99.5. 4) Approved Resolution 2025-05: A Resolution for temporary use of a State Highway located within the Official Corporate Limits of the City of Wilber on August 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 2025. 5) Approved Resolution 2025-06 to charge a $50 reconnection fee for any disconnection of services for water or sewer pursuant to Section 50.01 of the Municipal Code of the City of Wilber. Other items of discussion were. Nuisance property updates were given on the property of 606 W 7th Street, no significant progress has been made to clean up this property. The property owner of 701 N Shimerda agreed to move the wood pile and trim the trees as discussed with him. Discussion was held on the requirements of the Contractor developing lots on Jerome Lane. Council directed the City Attorney to contact the property owners of a new house being built at 816 Jerome Lane to inform them of the process required by the developer of the subdivision regarding streets, water, sewer and sidewalks. Discussion was held on code enforcement, the process of nuisance property hearings and campers at the Legion Park. The Council directed the City Attorney to start the process to set a hearing regarding the nuisance property at 606 W 7th Street and to contact the Legion to invite them to the City Council meeting next month to discuss concerns of campers that have stayed longer than permitted. A special meeting with the Mayor and Council was set for Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. to discuss and take action regarding having a special election for re-instating a ½ cent city sales tax.
