Roma Ruth (Jarchow) Stewart was born to Henry and Marie (Warnke) Jarchow on Jan. 25, 1922, and passed away April 15, 2022, in Fairbury.

She graduated from Daykin High School. On March 15, 1942, Roma married Lloyd Stewart at the Immanuel Lutheran Church near Daykin. They made their home North of Fairbury and then moved to their family home one-half mile south of Western. To this union, four children were born.

Roma worked alongside Lloyd on the farm and worked for many years at Velma’s Café in Western. In 1969, Lloyd and Roma moved to town. Roma enjoyed making quilts, silk flowers for special occasions, needle work, gardening, canning and she made the best bread and butter pickles. Roma also bowled for many years. Lloyd and Roma enjoyed traveling, listening to bluegrass music, dancing and going to Husker football games. Roma had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing.

Lloyd passed in October 1976. On Aug. 10th, 1984, Roma married Albert Heitzenrader at the Methodist church in Western. Al passed in 2007. In 2009, Roma moved to Cedarwood Assisted Living in Fairbury, then in 2012, was moved to JCH and L Gardenside Nursing Home in Fairbury.

She is survived by son, James (Judy) Stewart; daughters, Loydeen (Gerald) Stengel, Deborah Gennette; son-in-law, Melvin Kotas; sister-in-law, Dorothy Stewart; 12 grandchildren, Rick (Janell) Stengel, Jodi (Kevin) Scheef, Geriann (John) Rada, Corey (Brenda) Stengel, Kris (Jenni) Stengel, Jeff (Holly) Stewart, Jason (Jill) Stewart, Michelle (Gary) Baxa, Amy (Randy) Rezny, Eric (Jana) Gennette, Jill Taylor, Keri (Mike) Vanderhoef; 36 great-grandkids; 10 great-great-grandkids and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by husbands Lloyd Stewart and Albert Heitzenrader; parents, Henry and Marie Jarchow; daughter, Barbara Kotas; sister, Alice (Milton) Brott; and brother, Robert (Patricia) Jarchow.
