Robert D. “Bob” Brazda, 87, of Polk, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

Robert Dale Brazda was born March 25, 1934, in rural Swanton, to Jim and Bertha (Homolka) Brazda. Bob grew up in the Wilber area, and graduated from Wilber High School in 1951. On May 12, 1953, Bob married Mary Truka in Lincoln. While in Lincoln, he began working for Gooch’s Milling Company. He then joined the United State Navy. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, they made their home in Polk, where Bob began farming. He would farm until 2005 when he retired. He then began helping Roger Werner seeding the ditches along the highways. Bob and Mary remained on the farm.

Bob was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Polk, as well as a member of the Shriners, the Mason’s and Czech Society of York. He was always a farmer at heart, and would spend lots of time keeping up his garden, his flowers and doing yardwork. For many years, Bob played his accordion with his band at nursing homes and various Czech functions across Central Nebraska and Kansas.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Becky (Scott) Bailey of Omaha, Bobbie (Merle) Fratzke of Pleasanton and Robin Lezott of Polk; his brother, Glen (Kathy) Brazda of Fullerton; his grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Bailey of Omaha, Jake Lezott of Pennsylvania, and Eann Lezott of Colorado; and his great-grandchildren, Josiah, Levi, and Norah Bailey of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; his son, Robert Brazda; and his brothers, Roger and Jim Brazda.

The funeral service was Dec. 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Polk. Burial will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com.
