In loving memory of Richard Gene Ashbaugh, of Surprise, Arizona, who passed away Sept. 22, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Richard was born in Wilber and lived a life marked by service, hard work and devotion to family.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class with the Military Air Transportation Service (MATS), logging more than 1,400 flight hours between 1952 and 1953. He continued his service for an additional six years in the Naval Reserves.
Following his military service, Richard built a long and dedicated career in the canning industry, working as a Purchase Production Planner for more than 30 years. He was known for his reliability, strong work ethic and the deep respect he earned from colleagues and friends alike.
Richard found his greatest joy in time spent with family, though he was never one to sit still. He could often be found working in the yard, washing cars, or tinkering with projects around the house. He had a gift for fixing things and took great pride in caring for the belongings he had worked so hard to provide for his loved ones.
He is survived by his son, Todd Ashbaugh; daughter-in-law, Diana Ashbaugh; daughter, Lori Davis; and grandson, Dalton Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Velma Ashbaugh; his beloved wife, Carolee Ann (Coates) Ashbaugh; his sister. Maxine and her husband. Jinx Janssen; and his brothers Wilfred (Alice), Robert (Elenor), and Marvin (Mary Lynn) Ashbaugh, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
