OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS This is a synopsis of the Saline County Board of Equalization’s February 9, 2016, regular meeting proceedings. A complete set of the proceedings is on file in the Board of Equalizations’ Journal, is of public record in the Saline County Clerk’s office and at our website: www.co.saline.ne.us SALINE COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION The regular meeting of the Saline County Board of Equalization opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was called to order at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, by Chairperson, Marvin A. Kohout. Present were Janet J. Henning, Stephanie A. Krivohlavek, Kohout, Willis D. Luedke and Tim McDermott, Commissioners, County Assessor, Brandi Kelly and County Clerk, Linda Kastanek Notice of said meeting was posted in the County Clerk’s office, on the Saline County Website, and published in all county newspapers prior to the meeting, in compliance with State Statutes. Let the record show that all proceedings are electronically recorded. Kohout advised those present of the open meetings law posted at the back of the room. The Board: Approved the agenda as presented; Approved the minutes of the January 26, 2016 meeting as presented; Approved Tax List Correction #2016-09, correcting a clerical error on a 2015 personal property schedule, because the leasing company is also charging the individual taxes on this item; Discussed LB 356, which was passed last year and went into effect August 30, 2015. This bill changes provisions relating to the assessment of certain rent-restricted housing projects. The Assessor is now required to use the income approach when appraising rent restricted properties. This will cause a loss of 1.5 million dollars of valuation in Saline County. Crete will lose $31,837.00 in taxes and Wilber will lose $2,130.00 in taxes. After discussion, the Board suggested getting in touch with our Senator and discussing the issue. At 9:31 a.m., opened the Public Hearing for vehicle exemption applications; County Treasurer Debbie Spanyers presented two vehicle exemption applications. One is for the entire fleet for Doane College, which totals 42 vehicles and 3 trailers. The other application is for a 2015 Chevrolet Express van. These vehicles are all used for educational purposes only. At 9:33 a.m., closed the Public Hearing; Approved both vehicle exemption applications; There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 9:35 a.m. The next meeting will be on February 23, 2016, at 9:15 a.m. in the Saline County Commissioners' Room, Court House, Wilber NE.
