Minutes of the DeWitt Village Board Special Meeting held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Rentschler, Weise and Workman Absent: None Also present: Utility Superintendent – Hunter Oliver, Utility Maintenance – Zach Schuerman, Village Clerk – Moria Holly, Village Attorney – Kelly Hoffschneider, Village Insurance Agent – Craig Vyhnalek with Vyhnalek Insurance, and multiple residents (sign in sheet attached to original Minutes) Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. 1. Sewer Backup Issue – Several residents affected by the sewer backup in May did address the Village Board regarding their disappointment in the Village’s response and communication and concerns regarding getting their basements repaired. The Village Board, Village Clerk, Village Attorney and Village Insurance Agent went into Executive Session at 5:43 p.m. to discuss the Village’s current litigations. Executive ended at 5:57 p.m. 2. Village Litigation – The Village Board and Village Attorney agreed to accept the proposed plea deal. The Village Board, Village Clerk, Village Attorney and Village Insurance Agent went into Executive Session at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the Village’s response to the sewer backup. Executive ended at 6:11 p.m. Adjournment at 6:11 P.M. with no further business, all in favor.
