MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD Regular Meeting held Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Badman, Wattjes and Weise. Absent: Brown-arrived at 7:10 p.m. Also present: Clerk – Moria Holly, Deputy Meister, Manny Bermudez and Andrew Herzog Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Public Hearing Opened at 7:00 PM The Village Clerk explained the 1- & 6-Year Plan submitted by Olsson & Associates. There were no major changes to the Village’s plan from the previous year. NO PUBLIC COMMENTS Motion by Wattjes, second by Badman to close the Budget Hearing at 7:02 p.m. Ayes: Badman, Wattjes, Weise and Fink Regular Meeting opened at 7:02 p.m. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda 2. Vyhnalek Insurance – Health Insurance Renewal 3. Olsson & Associates – 1- & 6-Year Street Improvement Plan 4. 2021-2022 Rural Fire Contract 5. Applications – Custodial Worker Discussions: Deputy Meister stated that everything has been quiet and uneventful. Manny Bermudez and Andrew Herzog addressed the Board regarding that the previous owner of the property they purchased left a large amount of rubbish on the property which has caused them to have issues with noxious weeds. They were inquiring on a possible option to have someone load the rubbish to enable them to remove it from the property. The Board directed them to contact a local contractor. The Board also discussed the issue of feral cats in town with the Board agreeing to have the Village’s animal control provider to set additional live traps. Fire Chief Shawn Weise stated that things have been quiet for them as well and that the Fire Department would be hosting a soup dinner on October 10th. It was also discussed that the Fire Department is looking into options to replace the Village’s ambulance. The Village Clerk presented her report which consisted of Sales Tax and the funds received from NEMA. Adjournment at 8:16 P.M. with no further business, all in favor.
