MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD Regular Meeting held Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Wattjes, Weise and Workman Absent: None Also present: Utility Superintendent Interim – Hunter Oliver, Clerk – Moria Holly, and Saline County Deputy Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda 2. Checking Account for MFO funds, transfer of MFO funds, and transferring CD to General Account 3. Resolution 2023-11; Payment of Claims 4. Resolution 2023-12; NDOT Year-End Resolution and Certification Discussions: The Saline County Deputy presented to the Village Board their monthly reports. Fire Chief, Shawn Weise, informed the Village Board that two older trucks were returned to the NE Forestry, that the new ambulance is expected to be completed in January, 2024, the annual Soup Dinner brought in various donations, and that Blue Valley Door will be doing maintenance work on the Fire Hall’s garage doors before the winter season. Utility Superintendent Interim, Hunter Oliver, addressed the Village Board regarding water meter repairs/replacements are still ongoing, equipment has been prepped and maintenance for the winter/snow season, Norris has changed out all of the 3 phase meters, and that he will be begin classes for his Water Operator’s license either in December or February. Clerk, Moria Holly, addressed the Board regarding sales tax funds, updates regarding pool bids – bids currently received for stairs, lifeguard stands, poly jacking currently; closings on Village properties – closings are scheduled in December and January; WAPA contract transfer to NPPD – won’t be completed until January 2024, so the Village will pay WAPA for the November and December bills, but Norris will reimburse the Village those funds; the Village Audit – went well and balanced out but cash funds were low this year; the income survey results for the WWTP rehabilitation funding and SENDD’s and JEO’s recommendation on waiting for new ACS data coming out in December before proceeding with any further surveys; possible franchise agreement with NextLink for internet services; and Malco’s possible buyer for factory.
