Minutes of the DeWitt Village Board Regular Meeting held Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Rentschler, Weise and Workman Absent: None Also present: Utility Superintendent – Hunter Oliver, Utility Maintenance – Zachary Schuerman, Village Clerk – Moria Holly, Jack Post with JEO Consulting and Saline County Deputy Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda; motion and second to approve the items in the consent agenda. 2. JEO – Street 1 & 6 Year Plan; introducing new Street Superintendent – no action taken. 3. Salaries & Wages – Utility Maintenance/Seasonal; motion and second to approve the proposed increases in salary for Utility Maintenance and wages for pool employees. 4. Ordinance 805 – Salaries and Wages 2026; motion and second to approve and adopt Ordinance 805 regarding increased salary and wages. 5. JEO – Judds Bros Pay Application #11; motion and second to approve and sign the pay application Discussions: Bobbie Scherling discussed with the Village Board that the pool is open with 10 lifeguards hired. The Pool Manager is working on doing some event nights throughout the season. Fire Chief, Shawn Weise, stated that a leak in the Fire Hall ceiling was detected, but is in the process of being repaired. The department will also be needing to acquire more pagers due to new volunteers. Utility Superintendent, Hunter Oliver, presented his report for the Village Board consisting of water meters are being bid out for estimates, updates regarding the Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements, the west lift station is now updated and operational, the street sweeper is not functional but is continuing to try and get it repaired before DeWitt Days, pool operating well, and that jersey barriers have been put up at the ballfield. Village Clerk, Moria Holly, presented her Clerk Report consisting of updates regarding Study grant update, move in/out report, sales tax funds, keno funds collected, lease agreement funds collected, Community Center hours and report from Josi Remmers, NE League Conference in June, and that the Rabies Clinic went well. Board Member, Shawn Weise, did address with the Village Clerk and Utility Superintendent regarding concerns about communication for issues within the Village – will continue to improve communication with the Village Board, update on the security camera vandalism – working with the mother of the child involved and that any further vandalism incidents will be handled by the Saline County Sheriff’s office, and if there was any hail damage or claims the Village will be making – no hail damage to buildings, but a claim for hail damage on the Village Ram pickup will be filed.
