MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR MEETING held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Rentschler, Weise and Workman Absent: None Also present: Utility Superintendent – Hunter Oliver, Utility Maintenance – Zach Schuerman, Village Clerk – Moria Holly, Park Board – Bobbie Scherling, Ray Brown, Cari Buss, and Josi Remmers, Kyle Meers, Blake Pieper, Cody Timmerman, and Saline County Deputy Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda; motion and second to approve the items in the consent agenda. 2. Jared Timmerman – Street Closure Request; motion and second to approve Concord Street closure on July 12, 2025. 3. Ordinance 799 – Salaries and Wages 2025; motion and second to approve and adopt Ordinance 799. 4. Uline Estimate – Conference Room Chairs, motion and second to purchase eight (8) new conference room chairs. 5. Community Center – Windstream Internet; motion and second to approve installing Windstream internet services in the Community Center. 6. Review/Approve Wastewater Improvements Group A – Judds Brothers Pay Application #1; motion and second to approve Judds Brothers Pay Application. 7. Review/Approve Wastewater Improvements Group B – Johnson Services Pay Application #1; motion and second to approve Johnson Services Pay Application. 8. Review/Approve Wastewater Improvements Group B – Johnson Services Change Order #1; motion and second to approve Change Order #1. 9. Review/Approve Wastewater Improvements Group B – Johnson Services Change Order #2; motion and second to approve Change Order #2 Discussions: The Saline County Deputy presented their monthly call report and stated that everything was going well within the Village and is prepared to have an increased presence during the DeWitt Days celebration, and for closure of the highway during the fireworks display. Kyle Meers addressed the Village Board regarding concerns about the pool’s repairs and improvements. He asked to submit a bid for completing what he feels need to be completed. The Village Board agreed to allow him to submit a bid for review. The Park Board discussed with the Village Board their concerns regarding the pool repairs as well. They also discussed park equipment and park maintenance. The Village Board agreed to continuing working on improving the pool and the Village parks. Chairman, Lyle Fink, read to the Village Board a letter he received from a resident regarding concerns about the Village’s upkeep. Specifically, the pool, parks, and gravel road maintenance. Most of these concerns were addressed during previous discussion with the Park Board. Fire Chief, Shawn Weise, addressed the Village Board that the Fire Department is getting quotes on a new “Jaws of Life” as well as applying for some grant funds. He will update the Village Board at a later date. Utility Superintendent, Hunter Oliver, discussed with the Village Board that Zach and Blake are doing well and learning quickly. He addressed his and his employees’ efforts in maintaining the Village upkeep, maintenance and repairs. He strongly believes issues will improve now that the Village has a full staff. Utility Maintenance, Zach Schuerman, addressed the Village Board regarding his efforts to help in maintaining the Village, his efforts regarding listening to resident complaints, as well as, his suggested ideas in reaching resolutions to such complaints. Village Clerk, Moria Holly, presented her Clerk Report consisting of sales tax collected, preparing for DeWitt Days, and resolving complaints about the delay in garbage pickup this week.
