MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR MEETING held Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rentschler, Weise and Workman Absent: Rahe Also present: Utility Superintendent – Hunter Oliver, Utility Maintenance – Zach Schuerman, Village Clerk – Moria Holly, Phillip Richards, Brad Gronenthal, Shannon Scroggs, and Saline County Deputy Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda; motion and second to approve the items in the consent agenda. 2. Brad Gronenthal – CC Rent for Cornhole League (Oct-Apr); motion and second to approve the use of the Community Center for a Cornhole League. 3. Planning and Zoning Commission – Appointment of Members; motion and second to appoint Mike Rahe, Gary Shepler, Brad Garrison, Trevor Kropp and Travis Murray to the Planning and Zoning Commission. 4. Ordinance 800 – Rezoning 203 W Fillmore Ave; motion and second to approve and adopt Ordinance 800 rezoning 203 W Fillmore Ave from Commercial to Residential Urban (Single Family). 5.Traveler’s Insurance (Work Comp) – Appointment of Safety Committee; motion and second to appoint Utility Superintendent, Hunter Oliver, Village Clerk, Moria Holly, and Board Trustee, Jordan Rahe, to the Village of DeWitt Safety Committee. Discussions: The Saline County Deputy presented their monthly call report and stated that everything was going well within the Village. Phillip Richards discussed with the Village Board his intentions regarding clean up from his garage and house fire this last weekend. The damage was extensive and the buildings will need to be demolished. He also plans to stay in his camper temporarily on the property while he makes future plans and gets back on his feet. Fire Chief, Shawn Weise, addressed the Village Board regarding the Fire Department acquiring new “Jaws of Life”. The Fire Department will discuss funding at their next meeting and will update the Village Board at a later date. The Fire Department is also acquiring bids to remodel the office area at the Fire Hall. The Fire Department is planning on hosting their annual Soup Dinner at the Fire Hall this year to allow the public to see the updates and improvements. Utility Superintendent, Hunter Oliver, discussed with the Village Board that Zach is doing well and learning quickly. He addressed their efforts in maintaining the Village upkeep, maintenance and repairs, that the pool’s leak has worsened but Leak Investigators is schedule to begin repairs next week, and is obtaining quotes for a new lawn mower for the next Board meeting. Utility Maintenance, Zach Schuerman, addressed the Village Board regarding his efforts to help in maintaining the Village and is beginning his studies for obtaining his water license. Village Clerk, Moria Holly, presented her Clerk Report consisting of sales tax collected, Parker house update, and upcoming meetings scheduled for the Village Budget hearing.
