MINUTES OF THE DEWITT VILLAGE BOARD REGULAR MEETING held Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 7:00 PM at the Village Office, 209 E. Fillmore Ave, DeWitt, NE. Roll Call: Present: Chairman Fink, Trustees Rahe, Wattjes, Weise and Workman Absent - None Also present: Utility Superintendent – Mitch McDougall, Water Operator – Brent Rahe, Clerk – Moria Holly, Senior Center Director – Melissa Larmeu, Saline County Deputy Meister, Roni Baehr and Tyler Mentel Chairman Fink announced that a copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is accessible to members of the public. Received and placed on file the notices of the meeting. Motions approved by unanimous roll call vote: 1. Consent Agenda 2. Tiemann Construction – Concrete Repair Estimate 3. Tiemann Construction – Street Tarring Estimate 4. Phillipi Electric – Community Center Lighting Estimate Motion by Weise, second by Workman to enter into Executive Session at 8:09 P.M. for the purpose of discussing job applications received. Executive Session ended at 8:23 P.M. with no action taken. Discussions: Deputy Meister presented to the Board their monthly reports and stated that everything had been quiet. Roni Baehr addressed the Board regarding her fall/injury claim that was denied. This matter will be added to the May agenda. Melissa Larmeu with the Senior Center addressed the Board regarding a Lincoln Food Pantry truck that will be coming to DeWitt on the second Wednesday of every month to the Senior Center. This is open to the public with no paperwork or income standards. She also informed the Board about fundraising for the flooring project and the possibility of having a Farmer’s Market. Trustee Workman also addressed the Board regarding the committee she set up for updates and projects for the Community Center especially regarding the outside landscaping and maintenance. The Board also discussed the matter of the empty lots from purchasing the nuisance properties. The Board agreed to the proceed with selling the lots by sealed bids. The Utility Superintendent addressed the Village Board that they have been preparing for the summer season. They have been working on the pool, concession stand, mowers, etc. He also informed the Board that they have been working on marking and flagging the curb stops and water lines and that JEO has started the water and sewer mapping project. The Village Clerk presented her report which consisted of monthly sales tax, demolition of water tower scheduled for April 19, Norris rate analysis update, income survey update, nuisance property update, and job applications received. She also discussed with the Village Board JEO’s recommendation regarding a lagoon instead of a new wastewater treatment facility. The Board asked that JEO be present at the May Board Meeting to discuss the lagoon option in greater detail. Adjournment at 8:29 P.M. with no further business, all in favor.
