Leonard D. Vlasak, age 90, of Wilber, passed away Nov. 7, 2022.

Leonard was born July 7, 1932, to Vaclav J. Vlasak and Mary (Pracheil) Vlasak in Wilber. He attended county school near Wilber and graduated in 1950 from Wilber High School.

Leonard served our country in support of the Korean War from 1952 – 1954. After he was honorably discharged, he worked in Lincoln, where he was introduced to his future wife, Betty. Leonard and Betty were married in 1968 and their only child, Dale, was born in 1969.

Shortly after Dale was born, the family returned to Wilber to run the family farms. Leonard diligently managed the farms until retirement in 1994.

Leonard had a life-long passion for polka music and reminiscing about Czech-related history. He consistently monitored the weather channel long after retiring and remained avidly interested in agricultural practices and current events. He relished visits from his family. His quiet chuckles, quips about numerical patterns in dates/calendars and his stoic acceptance of the nuances of life shall heartbreakingly be missed.

Leonard is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty June (Kolar) Vlasak; and his step-brothers, Irvin Vlasak and Stanley J. Vlasak. Leonard is survived by his son, Dale A. (Cindy) Vlasak and granddaughters, Kiley and Audreah of Minnetonka, Minnesota.

The funeral service was Nov. 14 with interment at the Wilber Czech Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be donated to a local charity yet undetermined. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.kunclfh.com.
