Gregory George Barnas, 71, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, surrounded by family in Edmond, Oklahoma. He lived with multiple sclerosis for nearly 40 years, yet always maintained a positive perspective on life.

Greg was born in 1950 in Omaha to George and Eleanor Barnas, the eldest of seven children. He received his degree in Pharmacy from Creighton University, and he practiced pharmacy in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at St. Anthony’s Hospital for the majority of his career.

Greg had a passion for the outdoors and adventure. He loved camping and canoeing, even taking a six-month long canoe trip with several close friends down what he fondly referred to as the MadMoMiss – the Madison, Missouri and Mississippi rivers. He also enjoyed music and was himself a musician, playing the piano.

His infectious smile and kind nature touched all of those he came into contact with. Despite the many adversities faced throughout his battle with MS, he maintained an unwavering faith, stayed active in the Catholic Church, and consistently placed the needs of others ahead of himself. He was loved and considered a friend by many.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Cheryl Barnas; his four children, Joey Barnas, Carrie Clinefelter, Patrick Barnas and Julie Bushong; his grandchildren, Madeline, Brixton, Erin, Evan, Willow and Oliver; and his siblings, Catherine Sire, Patricia Wolfe, Steven Barnas, Charles Barnas, Mary Lou Crisman, and Barbara Svoboda.

A funeral service is to be scheduled for a later date. Further updates will be provided as appropriate. It is requested that all flowers or donations be held until the service is scheduled.
