The Saline Center #389 will be opening tomorrow, Sunday, March 23, to provide emergency storm relief, a hot meal and electronic charging station.
The center, located at 1102 County Road M (the corner of highway 15 and county road M), will be opening at 3 p.m. to heat and serve community members still without power and linemen in the area after the blizzard on March 19 left many Saline and Seward county residents without power.
Norris Public Power District is working around the clock to restore power as quickly as possible, but due to extensive damage in the area, many are still without electricity.
Two hours after doors open for heating community members, a free potluck meal will be served starting at 5 p.m. and will be available until food runs out. Donations of food and volunteer time to help are accepted. Those attending are encouraged to bring their electronics to charge while they warm up.
“These are our neighbors and friends. We want to do what we can to help them,” hall manager Beth Horak said.
Horak said the pot luck will include chili, hamburgers, hot dogs, pork and donated salads and desserts. An order for 175 meals for the linemen has been placed.
Cash donations will be accepted with a 100% match from Better Life, the center’s national organization. Contact Horak at (402) 641-2617 with any questions.
