Edna Koll, age 91, of Wilber, passed away  Jan. 20, 2023, at the Wilber Care Center.

She was born June 29, 1931, to Frank and Milena Filipi on the family farm northwest of Wilber. She was the eighth of 10 children. Edna attended rural school district #3 near her home through the eighth grade. After all of her children graduated high school, she went back to school and received her GED in 1983.

On Dec. 12, 1950, Edna married Elmer Koll in Lincoln. The couple made their home west of Wilber, where they farmed. To this couple, seven children were born. She was a stay-at-home mom, until all of the children were in school. In 1972, the couple purchased a house in Wilber, and moved there. After working several years as a cook at the school in Wilber, she was employed at Peterson Manufacturing Company in DeWitt for 19 ½ years, retiring in 1993. Edna was a member of the Wilber Rescue Squad for 30 years, along with her sister, Alice.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer in 1992; five brothers; four  sisters; and special friend, Ray Krivohlavek. Survivors include her sons, David and wife Judy of Wilber, Kenneth and wife Doris of Swanton, Alan and wife Jenny of Wilber; daughters; Kathryn and husband Jerry Wills of Arizona, Patricia and husband Jack Ross of Wilber, Kimberly Cox of Texas, and Christine Koll of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Virginia Filipi and Phyllis Filipi; brother-in-law, Ervin Plihal; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews of her and Ray’s.

The funeral service was Jan. 25. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wilber Fire & Rescue. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home.
