Adela Smisek, age 100 years, was born on a farm near Swanton to Ed and Valesta (Jelinek) Karl and passed away at the Wilber Care Center on Dec. 8, 2020.
She attended school and graduated from Swanton High School. After graduation, she taught school for one year then moved to Lincoln and worked at the State Capitol. On Feb. 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Milo Smisek. They lived in Texas for a few years, returning to Nebraska where they farmed until 1978, then moving into Wilber to make their home. She spent her last few years in the Wilber Care Center.
Adela is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Fred) Beckhusen; son, David (Gail) Smisek; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Milo.
To honor her wishes, she will be cremated and private services will be conducted after the current COVID restrictions are removed. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Swanton Volunteer Fire Department. Condolences may be left for the family at www.kunclfh.com.
